My Lord, it is with profound respect and humongous Privilege I write to you this letter.
This is consequent upon the obvious facts and happenings within the judicial
constituency capable of derailing the integrity of the Supreme Court. The judicial
community not only champions integrity of our democratic institution but also guide
political rascality of politicians.
It is my aspiration that the judiciary under your watch and leadership should reject and
resist all attempts to subvert the rule of law and uphold the integrity of the entire judicial
process.
My Lord, let your office reflect the much-expected impartiality and at the same time
uphold the trust reposed in the judiciary by the citizenry. Your name and history of your
judgments before now illuminates confidence, justice, fairness and above all respect to
the rule of law. Your emergence as the CJN at this critical period in our history where the
supreme court as an institution needs redemption. Your resolute leadership style and
unshakable dedication to the ideals of the rule of law, undoubtedly brings hope, trust and
integrity to our judicial system.
My Lord, please do not loose guard, courage and respect in the administration of the
judicial community under your watch. It's pertinent to revisit 8th March 2019 governorship
election of Imo State. Hon Bashira Sheriff v APC of Monday 6th February 2023 for Yobe
North Senatorial District. The two cases in particular took the Supreme Court to dark days
of technical legalism and formation of the expense of substantive justice.
My Lord, please remember your words in May 2023 at the opening ceremony of Annual
Conference of National Women Judges where you said, "judges should eschew
technicalities in order to restore public compliance".
Also remember the words of Justice Nwaeze JSC Rtd. in his dissenting judgment in
respect of Imo State Governorship judgment 2020 he said "the majority judgment will
continue to haunt our electoral jurisprudence for long time" which calls for litmus test and
public scrutiny.
Long live Hon Justice Kudirat Motonmori Kekere-Ekun
Long Live Supreme Court of Nigeria
Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria
